United Nations Climate Change ConferenceCOP15 - The UN Climate Conference in Copenhagen on December 7-18 2009 From Dec. 7-18, 2009, the world will convene in Copenhagen, Denmark to create a new global climate agreement to reduce greenhouse gas emissions at the UN Climate Change Conference, COP15. The sessions (COP 15) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change is open to Parties of the Convention and Observer States (Governments), the United Nations System, and observer organizations duly admitted by the Conference of the Parties. In addition, accredited press is allowed to cover the proceedings of the Convention. The ambition of the Danish government is that the COP15 conference in Copenhagen will result in an ambitious global agreement incorporating all the countries of the world. 2009 represents perhaps the last chance to achieve an agreement, if this is to be approved and ratified in time to come into force after the Kyoto Protocol expires in 2012. |
